looking at openmoko two ideas come to mind which i would like to realise:

• establish a connection with a large mobile operator :-)

• develop a kidsphone based on the fic device

ideas about the kidsphone:

• it could be a profile or a separate app.

• when activated the main menu shows pictures of main contacts the kid can call

• the phone sends the gps position periodically to a server where the parents can locate the kid

• this profile/app cannot be left without a password

• when this profile is active no other number can call the phone than the registered numbers

ideas about the fleetphone:

• it is basically a profile.

• when that profile is activated a background process sends the gps position periodically to a fleet management server

• the background process screens incoming sms. if an authorised sms comes in it sends the current position to the fleet management server

• possible menu buttons for vertical applications: pick up, delivery, checkin, checkout
